Hey guys,
I just realized that it feels like forever (because it is quite literally) since I last posted.
A lot has happened since then, so I will try my best to remember and catch you up =D
So this semester was hectic.
I had a biology teacher who in essence is a good man, and very smart, but not a very good teacher.
He was one of those that seriously did not believe in text books or multiple choice.
It was a class based on notes, and it took place at 8 o'clock every morning.
I ended up pulling a solid B out of his class, and that was good enough for me!
I landed my first solo in the KCU choir for our christmas concert.
It was a very small solo, but it was exactly what I wanted.
A solo that wasn't life consuming, that I could practice a few times and have it down.
I don't think I am mentally ready for an entire song. The singers there still make me nervous.
The choir also got to sing with the Gaithers again in Huntington, WV. Of course that was amazing because David Phelps was there this year. We got to sing background vocals for him on the dolly parton song, "He's alive."
It definitely goes on my "top 5 things I have done in my life so far" list.
I also had the pleasure of getting to set up the christmas decorations for the KCU concert. It was time consuming but fun none the less.
Private voice was scary.
Master Bell had me singing 2 handel songs. But I got them down. The bad thing was we had to fill out a practice log and practice for an hour every day for 4 days. In essence that doesn't sound too bad, but with everything else you have to do, it did get kind of rough to squeeze everything into one week at a time.
Some how I figured that out as well haha.
I now work in the KCU cafeteria.
At first it scared the living daily lights out of me! It was high paced and it felt like we just got thrown out there to a bunch of hungry lions.
But before long I got the hang of things and let me tell you, it is the best job ever!
I love the staff I work with. They are some of the most caring and funny people I have ever met in my life! And it didn't hurt that I got to work with one of my best friends as well.
Matt and the Lawrence County Marching Band made it to state semi-finals this year.
Matt even won 2nd place field commander in class 2A in a west virginia competition. So we were really proud of him.
It was really nice because for the first time I had a band companion, matt's ex girlfriend's mom Jenni. It was really cool to actually have someone to talk to at all of the competitions. After marching season, we started having Just Dance parties. It was really fun and helped me lose a couple pounds. *insert thumbs up here*
In the area of Love and relationships, I am still single and searching.
Enough said, moving on.
It's christmas break, but I still feel mentally and physically drained from this semester.
I just hope the next is not as strenuous.
In Recent News:
Austin's step dad died the day after christmas.
Last night was his viewing and today is his funeral.
It really sucks to see him so down, he's one of those people who never lets you see his emotions. Well if they are sad at least.
I just keep praying for their family and hoping something good would come of this tragic situation.
God has a reason for everything he does. So I have faith her will help their family and send a blessing to them beyond compare.
My family has to sing at the New Years Eve service this year.
We sing at it every year but for some reason this year everyone decided we needed to practice.
I don't know how well this is going to turn out, but all I can do is pray it goes well.
Speaking of my family, Cayla and Alan finally got engaged.
I'm her maid of honor, so we are super excited to kick this off in the new year and start planning her wedding. I'm guessing that is what we will be doing all year this year, or at least until the big day.
In the New Year I'm hoping to become a better person, a better christian, lose some weight (obviously), and find a boyfriend. Those things seem to be good things to hope for =D
Oh and one more thing, I got John Lasseters autograph in the mail =D
I wrote a 3 page letter to him about how he was an inspiration to me, told him my favorite Pixar film was toy story, and told him I expected nothing in return.
It says on fan sites to send an envelope with cardboard in it if you want a pictures signed and autographed. Instead of sending it to that mailing address, I sent my letter straight to him at Pixar. Since I sent the letter in October and I hadn't received anything I didn't give it a second thought. But the day before Christmas I got a envelope in the mail from Pixar. Dad freaked out because I hadn't told anyone I even sent him a letter, and dad was like Umm...im so confused but you got a letter from pixar.
It made my day I have to tell you! =D
It's on a picture of Woody and Buzz and it's totally legit!
I thought it was a stamp until dad and I saw the smudging from the sharpie on the back of the paper.
Another "things to add to the list of the top five things that have happened in my life so far."
Anyways, I'll post a picture of it later.
Sorry I haven't updated in a while.
I hope to do it more often if this next semester is slower.
Blessings and Love,
Allison
